Looking forward to Sunday and hoping the fans will get behind the team and the new signings. You never know which Spurs will turn up so hopefully it's their below average one!
My starting line up would be: -
GK - Costel
RD - Jones (Yedlin can't play)
CB - JOS
CB - Kaboul
LB - PVA
DCM - M'VIla
DCM - Rodwell
ALM - Borini
ACM - Toivnen
ARM - Lens
ST - Defoe
Subs
Vito, Brown, Coates, Catts, Larsson, Watmore, Fletcher
The starting line up I think will be close to being correct although possibly players in different positions to what I have listed.
Anyone have a different line up in mind?

Now with the squad we have I would rather Watmore and Gooch on the bench/ playing every week over the likes of Buckley and bridcutt. There's more potential there and they actually want to play football!
Yedlin is a plus coming in, he will want to play and get as much premier league experience as possible. Shame we couldn't get another CB and LB in but will have to work with what we have now.

We are pretty versatile going forward with Johnson so come back as well. Borini and Lens can play anywhere across the front 4.

Instead of a 4-1-4-1 or 4-3-3 I would like to see a 4-1-3-2 offence. Against Stoke (3-1) a 4-4-2 was used with Fletch and Wickham up front. It worked. I posted a formation. I'd be interested to hear what you guys think about it. Let me know.

I think this possession thing is getting us no where and will continue to fail, over the past few years I reckon the best way that Sunderland get results is when they tackle tough, high pressure when the opponent have the ball and counter attack like mad
Agreed. Agreed. Agreed. I vote for Altidore up front. He can't do any worse than Wickham or work any less than Fletcher. Even if he can't score he's better at holding up the ball than the others, maybe he can help the wingers score. But Poyet needs to change something. It's a good system, but a predictable one and one that takes more creativity to score from. Until they figure out how to break up the defense or get in behind it, goals won't come easy in this system. We have pace and could do well on the counter.

i'm not entirely convinced with our business this window performance against man u I would start Buckley over Johnson, Gomez scored against Birmingham he may be able to repeat this in the league given a chance, Alvarez looks the part and needs a start cattermole every time and the rest best of a bad bunch and of course wickham up front in the middle

Sunderland now odds on to sign Richards from City in an 8mil deal signing for 4 years with reports he's in the north east today. Bid accepted for Buckley from Brighton to have medical this week. Also heard Borini has decided to come to SAFC and will be here this week to finalise the deal. Man city youngster zucchini to sign a loan deal aswell till January. Poyet still wants Abel Hernandez even if Borini signs this week with a high chance wickham is going to leave. And lastly he wants Van Dijk still but might take a little longer than the rest. Looking like a great window after all.

Only 16 players! Maybe Roberge and Mavrias could make the cut, but no-one else currently on the books. That leaves us about seven players short of a squad- at least two CBs and a strilker among them.
And we still need to offload half a dozen w should not have been there in the first place- it should be a very busy week if we are going to have a proper squad before the deason starts!
